The dragonborn are a proud and ancient race of draconic humanoids that claim direct blood lineage to the great dragons. Though they are more likely the result of genetic manipulation by the various reptilian empires that ruled Erythea some 35 millenia ago, it is an indisputable fact that the dragonborn race has retained strong ties—both physically and culturally—to their draconic cousins.

The typical dragonborn is tall, averaging 6' 4", and weighs 250 pounds. Like dragons, dragonborn come in various metallic and chromatic colors (gold, silver, copper, red, white, blue, green, black, and yellow). The dragonborn claim their coloration is proof of their draconic bloodline, though most sages claim this is just coincidence.

Though the dragonborn once ruled a mighty empire, the race is now scattered and in serious decline. As a result, most dragonborn remain aloof from human society, and are distrustful of strangers.

The dragonborn race once forged the powerful empire of Arkhosia in the heart of Jaarluna. Ruled by royal lines of mighty dragons, proud Arkhosian warriors subjugated vast territories across Erythea. Their empire was famous for carving itsmost important structures directly into the sides of cliffs, hills, and mountains. Wondrous stone facades, carved with pillars, arches, and spires, were wound through with dragon iconography. In the deep, cool caves behind them, dragonborn and dragons alike conducted the affairs of their glorious empire.

Some 2,900 years ago, Arkhosia came into conflict with the growing shadow of Bael Turath, the infernal empire of the tieflings. Dragonborn and tieflings fought several terrible wars, ultimately destroying both empires. The cities of Arkhosia became devil-haunted ruins peeking from lone cliff-faces and along the sides of lost valleys.
