The
Elder Times.
In
the earliest days of Creation, powerful
beings known as the Old Ones (also known as the
Primordials) and the Elder Gods battle
across the multiverse. Eventually, the Elder Gods prevail
and the Old Ones are slain, imprisoned, or exiled to the
Far Realm or the Elemental Planes. Eons later, most of the Elder Gods withdraw
from the universe. As
the Elder Gods fade, new gods take form and take their place as
the caretakers of the multiverse. These gods create Erythea (and many other worlds like it),
as well as the mortal races (dragons, humans, elves,
dwarves, etc). |
|
-500,000+ |
Many
mortal and monstrous empires rise and fall on Erythea.
Next to nothing is known of these semi-mythical
civilizations. |
|
-500,000 |
Around
this time, a Great Cataclysm brings a sudden and utter end
to all of the civilizations of Erythea; an age of great
darkness and savagery envelopes the world. |

The
Age of Dragons.
Out
of the chaos, the dragons emerge to dominate the world.
Humans have devolved into nomadic cave-dwellers and simple tool-users. Thankfully, they are beneath
the notice of the great dragons. Vain
and territorial creatures, the dragons eventually war with
one another and after thousands of years of conflict,
nearly bring about the extinction of their race. |
|

The
Age of
Monsters.
Erythea is dominated by several races of intelligent
reptilian and amphibian humanoids (the ancestors of modern
bullywugs, dragonborn, kuo-toa, troglodytes, and lizard
folk). Though savage and cruel, their numbers include
skilled wizards and powerful priests. Many primitive
humans are enslaved by these creatures. |
|
-28,000 |
A great
Ice Age affects most of
Erythea and lasts nearly 3,000 years; the reptilian and
amphibian monstrous
empires cannot adapt to the drastic changes in climate,
and perish. |
|

|
The
Age of
Giants.
Led by the powerful titans, the giants forge a
world-spanning empire of their own. Skilled wizards and
masters of gate-magic, they extend their empire to
encompass scores of worlds. In addition to enslaving
primitive humans native to Erythea, the giants enslave the denizens of many
other worlds and introduce several new monsters and
races (including dwarves, orcs, and the goblinoid races)
to Erythea.
|
|
