Long persecuted by the other races of Erythea, half-elves seldom expect kindness or even help from strangers. They are an introspective race, mostly loners by nature, though some have gathered together to form their own communities and have their own children (two half-elf parents will have a half-elven child, no matter how much elven or human blood runs through the parents' veins). Many have banded into caravans that move from place to place, much like the halflings and Zhevreni.

Half-elves love music and dancing, and are widely believed to be mystics, thieves, and con-artists. Many communities bar half-elf caravans, and treat them much as medieval Europe treated the gypsies. This has led many half-elves to develop a keen awareness of the motives of others, and a natural gift for diplomacy.

Half-elves combine the best (or, some say, the worst) of both parent races. They are finer-boned in general than their human parents, but more robust than elves; they are somewhere in between in height and weight also. Most half-elves have slightly tilted elven eyes, and all have pointed ears (though most tend to hide them under long hair). Unlike elves, male half-elves can grow beards and mustaches, and many do so to hide their elven heritage.
